Hey all!
I've very recently gotten in to reading Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Adventures of Sherlock holmes. I'm really finding them very interesting! I'm very much a newbie when it comes to these books and author.
Some of the Sherlock stories I've read are, "The Eventure of silver blaze," "The adventure of the stock clerk," "The adventure of yellow face," and one of my favorites, "the adventure of the dying detective." There are so many it's a bit hard to pick and choose. :) I like how they are short stories and yet so informative, so interestingly written!
What do you all think?
I think they are terrific, and I can highly recommend the BBC Radio adaptations. The modernised 1940s OTR New Adventures aren't bad either. The modern-day Sherlock that is televised is utter rubbish!
I honestly haven't seen or read any of the modern day one. Wow, is the television show that bad? I've only seen clips and it looked good..
I rather enjoy Sherlock HOlmes. I quite enjoy his character and he is a fascinating character. My previous username had something to do with it, that is how much I enjoyed it. hahaha! I enjoyed and remember The Hound Of The Baskerville most. John Watson solving a case. hahaha! and, the short story I think it had something to do with bohemia with Sherlock Holmes being crushed on hahahahaha! Sadly, I've only read the series only once or twice, yes, I do need to re-read them!
I find him an interesting creation. II haven't really explored him much, but the one story I did read was the Hound of the Baskervilles during my mystery writing course. it was a very enjoyable and thought-provoking mystery.
Yes, indeed you should. I think you may enjoy it.
I've always been a big fan of these books both for Holmes' vast intelligence as a
detective and for Watson's compassion. Great stories.
They’re really great.
I’ve finished them a year ago and really enjoyed them a lot.
I have also watched the movies like “The hound of the Baskervilles (2012)” and it was interesting I think.
You should watch the really old films from the 40s with Basil Rathbone and Nigel
Bruce, much more atmospheric.
I'm not sure how much longer it's on, but audible is currently selling a collection of all the stories for 6.99. ... or one credit.
LOve those old radio shows and films from the 40's. NIgel Bruce and Bazzle
Rathbone as well as Tom Conway did a great job with those. Orson Wells also
starred in some as well. Love those as well as the new adaptations of the
books.
The new film, Mr. Holmes, is doing rather good. It'll be on Blind Mice Mart in a few weeks, so no need to go watch it at the cinema.
I didn't know of the new movie..Interesting! Then again..I don't have cable tv what's the movie about? I mean, is it all of his cases or something?
